Short Bio

Astrid Parmentier

In 2024, Astrid graduated as Master of Sociology at Ghent University. In December 2024, she started working at the Department of Educational Studies at Ghent University, focusing on the PIAAC project (Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies). Since then, Astrid is part of the Tecolab research group under the supervision of Prof. dr. Bram De Wever. She is mainly interested in researching educational inequality and providing equal learning opportunities for all groups in society.

Project

The Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC) develops and conducts the Survey of Adult Skills. The survey measures adults' proficiency in key information-processing skills - literacy, numeracy and problem solving in technology-rich environments - and gathers information and data on how adults use their skills at home, at work and in the wider community.
